Wednesday... Day and Nite... ( and the difference between them )

Wednesday.

It never had a morning, actually no... Wednesday didn't even have an early afternoon.

Christ, Tuesday night near enough killed me. Suffice to say Wednesday was going to be rather more relaxed.

So after a nice luke warm shower, furiously trying to scrub the excess alcohol from my body. I descend down the flights of stairs and peer into the common room/bar.

Across the room I familiar face ... Marty!!! Marty the Dutch born , Australian living guy that I've met and clicked with quite well.

( Obligatory picture of Marty - Taken later that day )

( Strapping young lad ain't he... he's single ladies... GET IN THERE!!! )

We both decide to go do some photographic work in and around some of the spots we had visited in Tokyo during the day... that needed some night time treatment.

As it was getting around 4:30pm or so , we thought as dinner time was approaching, we'd check out the Tokyo Dome food court , as I had previously missed that the other day.

So Marty and I bundle ourselves out the door and head to the subway... Once in the subway I swipe my Subway pass ( Which... incidentally is a MUST... 2,000Yen to buy... 500yen deposit which you get back. Top ups available at every station ... you MUST get one of these )... anyways , I swipe my card and off we go...

We get to our station... and ...

WHAT DO YA KNOW!!! Kat-tun crazed crowds of girls again... we didn't know it was on again.

Seriously... *cough*

Today though , Marty and I actually took a decent look around the Tokyo Dome and the surroundings. This place is phenomenal... Roller Coasters, Towers of Terrors , the lot... it's quite cool.

Marty and I decide to go get some food. So we head round the shops looking for something to eat. As we're heading round the shops my eye is caught by something written upon a wall...

Yes , it is written is rather bad Chinglish, or rather , in this case... Japlish. But you can't hide from it's meaning...

Keep the hope , be optimistic.

To me , this was a little sign of truth about life. 2009 has been a fairly fucked year for me. My parents split over Xmas , and the ongoing dramas of that haven't been easy at all. I came out of a very indepth 5 and a half year relationship less than two months before this trip. So in all seriousness , my head was in a million places and didn't know which way was up when I left. To say I felt a little lost in life was putting it nicely. To go from a year where you think you know that life is 'just so'... family life , social life , love life , work life ... to have it turned completely upside down over the next 4 months is nothing short of torture. The one mistake I made in this time , is trying to pretend it didn't have any adverse effect on me at all. When in reality , it did... it was pure evil running inside me.

Coming to Tokyo though , gave me time to think , it gave me time to assess things. The last week or so in NZ had given me closure on many things , and the trip overseas was kind of the opening to many things. I now had the ability and the power to start new adventures , start new friendships... and new relationships. The only thing I had to do , is keep a positive , optimistic outlook on life...

We found a little place to eat, kind of like a Burger Fuel , in Tokyo ( it wasn't nearly the same as Burger Fuel though ) *insert sad face here*

We ordered our food, and once again... ordered our beer. I could get used to this , burger and beer for lunch. Seems like such a good mix. And we proceed to sit down outside. We sit and talk , and discuss the finer points of Japanese female fashion and the girls wearing it. It's soon apparent that Marty and I are perfect wingmen. We both enjoy females , but he's more into the sporty/hiker type , where I'm into girls with nice dresses , a nice set of sunglasses. Not high maintenance , but , have a little class / finesse to them.

And believe me , the fashion in Tokyo is rather diverse...

Oh , and the next one... well... words can't quite describe... suffice to say , Marty and I did give each other the side glance of "What the fuck!?"

Once we had had our fill of Burgers , Beer , and Asian Eye Candy we decided to go for a wander. The sun had JUST start to drop out of sight...

Tokyo Dome becomes a whole different place at night. During the day it's a bright bustling place full of little kids and noise.

At night , it quietened down somewhat. More couples and slightly older people were out...

The other thing that was really cool though... were the lights.

Everywhere you looked , what you had walked past in the day, which looked cool then... was now illuminated in some shape or form... and now looked AWESOME!!!!

Everything just came alive with light, it truly was something breath-taking...

With this in mind , Marty and I decide that due to us being so close , we should had back to Shibuya , and see if we can get a shot of Shibuya crossing ( the biggest crossing in Tokyo remember!!! keep up ) at night.

We're crossing a bridge to get to the subway station and get a couple of shots..

When we're approached by a couple of young Asian girls, they want a photo... no problems!

What happened next though , was the funny part... Through bad english , and even worse Japanese , I explain that the business card I had given them , had my wesbite on it. On the website would be the photo I had taken. These girls thought that was the coolest thing since sliced rice... ( they dont eat bread ya see ). It actually happened many times over my holiday. The fact I could give a tangible thing to someone to then refer to later and get the photo , people were over the moon. ( So thank you Billy for designing them!!!! *hugs* )

It's off to Shibuya we go...!!!

By this stage , I've been to Shibuya both in the day , and at night. Both the day before actually... haha. But last night was a night clubbing, and I didn't have my camera. Now I had the camera in had , and basically as long as I wanted. It's now that I can really get to a street level and start to watch things... to see things...

Shibuya at night is crazy, it's neon advertising city. HUGE TV billboards 10 stories high advertise things that I have no idea what they are. With each changing advertisemtn , the ambient light would change with whichever dominant colour was on the TV. This truly was a night-time happening spot...

We tried a couple of long exposure shots to try and showcase the area, but we were frustrated and not being high enough... solution... go up!!!

We're in the middle of a business district. Multi-storey buildings all around.. there will be somewhere around!!

The first building we tried , was the transport centre.... it's 3 storeys high. Wrong... all windows are double glazed and have metal mesh inside.

Second building was a multi storied department store... we ride the elevators up , top floor.. womens lingerie!! You ever been in an odd country , in a shop , two young males... looking around at middle aged Asian women buying bras and nana undies? ... No? ... Well that was us. Hhahaahah Awkward much. Needless to say we couldn't see much of Shibuya crossing.

Next building , full of restaurants , all the restaurants that faced the Shibuya crossing had blocked the windows though... odd. We did however , get to the roof where a "Beer Balcony" was. PERFECT!!!! Well... not quite. Through talking to someone in the building , we found out that they had erected fences all around the top of the buildings , to stop business throwing themselves off in times of economic downfall ( ha... pun ).

It was in this builidng though however, that I saw a cute little danger sign....

Now , I'm not sure what it means... but I THINK it means ..

"Watch out for crabs trying to steal your bottle opener!"

I could be wrong though...

Basically , our plans were thwarted on a decent high view shot of Shibuya crossing. Sorry guys... :(

I did however get some nice long exposure shots at the crossing later...

As we were packing up and about to leave... we hear shouting and scream from the other corner of the intersection... we set of to investigate!

Jack Rose.. no idea who they are, but... apparently they are a Japanese Pop/Rock group. Kind of Electro Pop... ah shit... no idea , it's Japanese Music ... made by these guys

I do use the term "Guys" loosely... to this day , I'm still not sure whether the lead singer is male or female...

The crowd seemed to know them though , and a couple of the girls were singing along and doing "actions" along with the songs.

Shibuya was such a busy business centre during the day... and at night , it was full of light and sound... and songs.... and chicks that look like dudes.

K-Road much? Hahahahahaha

We left Shibuya soon after , and headed home... today had been a long day.
